What are the benefits of a Residence Permit in Spain?
Requeriments and documents for EU Certificates-Cards (Residence)
If you are moving to Spain long term, the next thing you should be doing is applying for a residence permit. This will give you access to many benefits, such as health care in Spain. As an EU Member, the following documents are required to apply for residency in Spain.
- Original passport and copy
- 3 passport size Fotos
- Administrative tax 790 120 of 12,00 euros
- EX18 application form (we provide it)
- Certificate of registration (certificado de empadronamiento individual-“volante” is not accepted) from the Town Hall, no older than three months on the day of appointment at the immigration department – original and copy.
- NIE (if you have one)
- Signed and stamped bank certificate showing the minimum balance (indicated below) in the account over the last 3 months before the appointment + the bank movements showing payments made in Spain over the last 3 months (these certificates have to be stamped and signed by the bank on all pages)
- Bank certificate showing income (depending on your case)
Bank certificates must be less than 10 days old for the police appointment.
The documents must correspond to each category, the income does not cumulate. For example, in case of self-employed persons in Spain, the applicants cannot produce the bank certificate as well as the Modelo 130 of work income.
Additionally, depending on your personal situation, the documents below must be provided:
In the case of pensioners
- S1 form from your country’s social security/health department
- Bank certificate with the bank stamp on all the pages and signed from a Spanish bank account where you received your pension during the last year, showing income and expenses made in Spain.
In the case of non-pensioners and non-working:
- Private medical insurance
To present the private medical insurance you have to provide the insurance certificate that specifies literally as follows: ¨El seguro médico contratado incluye asistencia primaria, especialidades, ingresos hospitalarios e intervenciones quirúrgicas¨, and it need not reflect the conditions of the policy.
Furthermore, you need to provide the invoice of payment of the insurance or the certificate from the company stating that you are up to date in the premium payments.
Minimum balance in account (during last 3 months prior to appointment)
- 1 person – 9.000 euros
- 2 persons – 18.000 euros
- For each extra adult in the family unit another 9.000 euros per person
- For each child in the family unit 4.500 euros per child
In case of persons in employment:
- Up to date working life certificate “Certificado de vida laboral” with a minimum of 50% of the legal working hours.
- Work contract.
- Proof of income of a minimum of 750 € euros per month.
In case of self-employment (autónomos):
- Up to date working life certificate “Certificado de vida laboral” (you must have been registered for a minimum of 3 months)
- Forms “Modelo 036 or 037”
- Modelo 130, in box 03 of the form, there must be an amount of 750 € per month (minimum) 750 € multiplied by the months that you have been registered during this year.
Requirements for Permanent Residency
- Original passport and copy
- 3 passport size Fotos
- Administrative tax 790 120 of 12,00 euros
- EX18 application form (we provide it)
- Certificate of registration (certificado de empadronamiento individual-“volante” is not accepted) from the Town Hall, no older than three months on the day of appointment at the immigration department – original
- Original existing residence certificate/card and copy
- Bank account movement of the last 2 years showing payment made in Spain (stamped by the bank on all the pages and signed)
